Visitors’ Reflections on Bhaktapur and Their Journey
On Nov 21 we concluded the tour a blend of Nature and Culture. First of all there were two guests from Germany Maraja and her friend Julian went to Lantang Valley trek with my friend Rikesh Maharjan
Then after visiting Kathmandu and Patan Durbar square, I got an opportunity to guide my own home town Bhaktapur Durbar Square. I feel so proud to showcase the timeless beauty of the Cultural city of Bhaktapur with hidden secrets, basic iconography beyond the main square. And I had some new experiences where my satisfaction and happiness rooted upon the smiles of local people around Bhaktapur.
Guests reviewed Bhaktapur as the good city for relaxing, chilling with a peaceful environment feels like family, home and Noticed it as a strong community against preservation of cultural heritage. And a Maraja friend who studied architecture feels really like Bhaktapur a Living Museum and pointed to as a well organized city.
Lastly, As I am from Bhaktapur, Bhaktapurians will be remembered forever and have gratitude towards the German Government as well as citizens against the contribution of heritage preservation and the then people’s uplifting living standard campaign in Bhaktapur after earthquake of 1934 AD named as Bhaktapur Development Project 1974 AD. Hence, the Project holds some percentage to make Bhaktapur Today’s environment.
Q: You visited three cities, and at last, Bhaktapur. How did you feel about the environment and the ambiance here?
Ms. Maraja
Bhaktapur felt much more like a community—almost like a family. It’s really nice to see how people collectively take care of the city. You can immediately feel that the community is actively involved in maintaining the public spaces. And everywhere you look, there are layers of history. That makes the place truly special.
Mr. Julian
We visited three cities, but for us, Bhaktapur is definitely the nicest one. It’s much more relaxing, and the name “living museum” is absolutely right. It’s not just a few spots—everywhere you go, you find something historical, something meaningful.

As I studied architecture, I especially appreciate how well the city is planned. There are places to sit, rest, socialize, and enjoy. It’s very organized, and the design supports communication and interaction. You can easily connect with local people, see their handicrafts, and feel their culture. Bhaktapur is a very beautiful city.
Q: And now, about Chiku—how was your experience with him?
Ms. Maraja
We’re truly thankful that we met Chiku. He offered us incredible trekking opportunities, helped us connect with you, organized a tattoo for us, and arranged so many things during our stay.
Mr. Julian
Without him, our trip would have looked completely different. We are really grateful. It was just a coincidence we contacted him through Get Your Guide, and luckily, we ended up with the right agency. Chiku made the beginning of our journey wonderful, and you made the ending special. In between, when we were in Pokhara without a guide, the experience wasn’t as good. So, we appreciate everything even more.
Thank you very much.
Comment from the Host:
We remain grateful to the German people. Without the German-supported development projects, we new generation couldn’t see this kind of clean, and well-maintained city. Certain percentage Credit goes both to the German government and the citizens of Germany. We hope the relationship between Nepal and Germany continues to grow for development, tourism, and cultural exchange.
Visitors:
Absolutely. Thank you. We’re very happy.
Host:
Okay, then we conclude here.
